About our Tenant Advisory Group

Our Tenant Advisory Group (TAG) is how Unison integrates renter perspectives into our operations. Comprising Unison renters, TAG serves as a forum to advise us on how to better meet renter needs and enhance our services.

Our refreshed TAG was onboarded in 2025, and we deeply value the dedication of its members. Their insights help improve the quality of housing and ensure renters’ voices are represented.

An older woman with gray hair, wearing a black top and floral skirt, sits on a chair in a cozy room with a piano, lamp, plants, books, and framed photos in the background. She is smiling gently at the camera.

“A TAG member can listen to people in their community, come to the meetings and share feedback. It’s brilliant how Unison is so open to having us there and listening. I’ve found it really productive.”

TAG FAQs

What’s involved in being a TAG member?

TAG meets quarterly to provide advice on:

  • Improving services.
  • Proposed changes to service delivery and policies that may affect renters.
  • Communication materials, including website content, brochures, letters, and sign-up information.
  • Ideas to boost renter participation in Unison and the wider community.

Why does Unison have a TAG?

TAG provides renters with a platform to represent their community, share their views, and influence decisions that affect their neighbours. It helps shape our services and operations while offering members access to training and skill development opportunities.

How do I become a TAG Member?

TAG members serve a two-year term and can reapply for up to two additional terms—up to a maximum of six years. This helps ensure that a diverse range of renters have the opportunity to participate and share their voice.

Our current TAG was onboarded in 2025, with the next round of applications expected to open in 2027. Renters will be notified when applications reopen.

If you’re a current Unison renter aged 18 or over and have been renting with us for at least one year, you’ll be eligible to apply. The application process involves completing a short form outlining your interest in joining TAG and representing your community.

How are TAG members chosen?

Members are chosen by a selection panel based on their application and an informal interview. The panel looks for renters who demonstrate:

  • A passion for improving housing and renter wellbeing.
  • Strong communication skills, including respectful listening and clear expression.
  • Respect for diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • A willingness to represent the views of fellow renters.

Are there other ways I can get involved as a Unison renter?

There are many ways to have your say and contribute to Unison’s community:

  • Attend resident meetings.
  • Join social events.
  • Respond to Unison surveys.
  • Share ideas or concerns with your Place Manager.
  • Submit complaints or feedback via our online form.
  • Speak with a TAG member about issues or ideas.
