Salary: $120-130k plus super & leave loading
About the role
As Unison’s Strategic Communications Manager, you’ll shape how we communicate with, engage and show up for our renters, government partners, communities and our workforce. You’ll be a trusted advisor to our teams, influencing how we frame key messages, navigate risks and leverage opportunities to strengthen our reputation and our social impact. You’ll lead a direct report within a small but important Communications Team whose work spans renter‑facing communications, digital engagement, milestone events, media opportunities and our publications.
The role is primarily based at our Melbourne CBD office with some travel required to other sites.

You’re energised by meaningful work and love the autonomy of shaping the voice and presence of an organisation making an impact.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Strategic communications and stakeholder engagement. A bonus if your experience lies in community services, housing or government
- Multi-partner engagement, including donors, government funders, and internal/external commercial project teams
- Project management or skills with planning and resourcing projects to deadline
- Tailoring professional writing style, design, graphics and tone for accessibility and audience appropriateness
