Thriving community in the heart of Werribee
Completed in December 2022, Cottrell Street has grown into a thriving community in the heart of Werribee. A community celebration held in March 2023 marked the beginning of a new chapter for residents — families, couples, and singles, reflecting the rich diversity of the area.
With affordable rentals rapidly disappearing and housing stress rising across Wyndham, Unison’s role is more vital than ever. At Cottrell Street, Unison provides more than just homes. Unison staff are located in the ground floor office onsite and there to link residents to wraparound support that helps the community stay housed, build stability, and connect with their community.
About the Community
Located opposite Wyndham Park and close to Werribee’s shopping precincts, public transport, and essential services, Cottrell Street offers both convenience and connection. The development features social housing designed to foster wellbeing, including a light-coloured roof that reflects solar energy and reduces heat.
Unison works closely with support services and is a proud member of the Wyndham H3 Alliance, helping to better connect housing and social services so that the community can truly thrive.
All the comforts and convenience
Step inside Cottrell Street and you’ll find more than just a place to live — it’s a space designed for connection, comfort, and sustainability. Residents enjoy a communal garden complete with a BBQ area, perfect for weekend gatherings and casual catch-ups. Informal seating areas are thoughtfully placed at the front entrance, in the garden, and throughout the lobby, encouraging neighbours to pause, chat, and build community.
The apartments themselves are spacious and light-filled, with generous balconies that invite the outdoors in. Each home is fitted with double-glazed windows and doors, air conditioning systems, ceiling fans, built-in robes, and fully equipped kitchens and laundries — all designed to support modern living.
Sustainability is built into the fabric of the development. A 5kW solar panel system offsets electricity use in common areas, and the buildings boast an impressive average energy rating of 7.5 stars. Residents also benefit from onsite car parking and a large bike room, supporting active and low-impact transport options.

Giving back to community
Andrew is a Unison renter who enjoys giving back both to the wider community through volunteering, and the community of renters in his building. From helping to keep the place tidy and being on call to help elderly neighbours, to organising fun surprises for the youngest residents, Andrew is as community-minded as they get.
Unison’s very own Santa Claus“I enjoy putting others first and doing stuff for others. Some people say, oh you’re too busy! You always put others first! It’s just the way I’ve been brought up.”
