ABC News Breakfast features the Kensington Urban Food Forest

The Kensington Urban Food Forest featured on ABC News Breakfast this week.

The Food Forest launched last November, is the first community food forest in the City of Melbourne. It is nurtured by residents from our Kensington mixed tenure community - social, affordable, private renters and owner occupiers, together with people from the surrounding neighbourhood.

The Forest’s aims include social connection and cultural exchange; outdoor physical and social activity; connection with the natural environment; food education and healthy eating and increasing local skills in sustainable gardening.

The project is led by Unison and Jacqui van Heerden local resident and permaculture designer, and funded through a City of Melbourne Community Grant and open space offered by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Service.
