Station Street Fairfield redevelopment in the final stages
We are very excited to share the news that our Station Street Fairfield redevelopment is nearing completion.
This special project will replace the former 22-bedroom Victorian heritage rooming house which had been built around shared living spaces, kitchens and bathrooms. A new four storey apartment building is also being built on the site.
The result will be 38 modern self-contained affordable apartments for women.
Paying respect to the former rooming house building’s heritage and architecture has been an important factor of Unison’s refurbishment.
Unison CEO James King explains, “Preserving history and the architectural intent of the main building has always been an important factor of this redevelopment. We are investing time and money in ensuring the character of the building is maintained.”
Unison has supported all the tenants to relocate to other properties during the construction process, and they will have the first option to move back once the building is finished.
Manresa Construction is our partner in the redevelopment and the project is supported by the Victorian Government.
